The Algarve is a fantastic bird watching region.

More than 250 species of birds, some of them very rare, live here, which makes the Algarve particularly attractive for bird watchers, photographers and ornithologists.

Thanks to the great variety of landscapes in the Algarve and its various ecosystems, there are countless opportunities for unique observations.

The Algarve has the greatest abundance of birds in Portugal and is an obligatory stopover on the migration route for rare birds from Africa and Northern Europe.

Did you know that the Costa Vicentina is the only place in the world where the white storks breed on the cliffs?

You can watch for example, ospreys, falcons, bee-eaters or orioles directly from your campsites.
